We use the superlatives adjectives to compare one person, thing or situation to the rest. There are short and long adjectives.
Short adjectives:
Add the -est
* when the adjective ends in "y", it changes by "i" (happy)
* when the adjective has only 3 letters, consonant-vocal-consonant, the last consonant is double (hot)
fast - the fastest
Ronny is the fastest runner.
happy - the happiest
I am the happiest person in the world!
hot - the hottest
The Sahara is the hottest place.
big - the biggest
Chihuahua is the biggest state in Mexico.
Long adjectives:
Add the most (adjective)
difficult - the most difficult
For me, Mathematics is the most difficult.
handsome - the most handsome
Brad Pitt is the most handsome actor.
intelligent - the most intelligent
Maria is the most intelligent student.
Exception!
good - the best
For me, Christina Aguilera is the best singer.
bad - the worst
I think winter is the worst weather.
